How and Where to Watch 'The Office'

A lot of not-so-great things went down in 2020 (let's not get into it), but one of the toughest blows was when The Office was taken off Netflix. After years of being able to watch Jim ask Pam out on a date for the first time whenever we wanted, our comfort show was suddenly gone! For years, The Office had been on Netflix, just a click away from providing comfort, laughs, and background noise to keep you company while cleaning your apartment or scrolling through Instagram. And then, one day, it disappeared from the streaming site. But, fear not, there are still ways you can watch The Office—both online and off—and we're here to break it down for ya.

The politics of what show streams where can get confusing. For now, all you need to know is that the rights to The Office are owned by NBCUniversal, so when the company decided to launch its own streaming service (enter: Peacock), the comedy obvi joined its roster once Netflix's contract ran out. The series was officially removed from Netflix at the end of 2020, migrating over to Peacock in January of 2021. But Peacock isn't the *only* place where viewers can watch (and rewatch) The Office. Here are a few options that will keep Michael Scott in your hearts and your living rooms on demand. (That's what she said.)

Stream it on Peacock

Let's start with NBC's streaming service. There are two Peacock subscription options: Peacock Premium ($4.99/month, access to everything), and Peacock Premium Plus ($9.99/month, access to everything and no ads). There used to be a free subscription tier that offered the first five seasons, but, unfortunately, that was discontinued in January of 2023 (RIP).

So, for on-demand access to all nine seasons—as well as behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, bonus scenes, and extended episodes—you'll need Peacock Premium or Premium Plus. Sry, we don't make the rules!!

Purchase it online

If you don’t want an ongoing subscription to Peacock, then another option is to buy individual episodes, seasons, or even the entire series online. This can be done through digital retailers like Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes. You can get individual episodes in standard definition for $1.99 or high definition for $2.99, and individual seasons can be purchased for $17.99 in SD or $19.99 in HD. The one exception is the shorter first season of the series, which you can get for $11.94 in SD or $12.49 in HD.

And if you wanna get access to all nine season at once, then you'll be happy to hear that the bundled series can be purchased on both Vudu and iTunes for for $99.99.

Watch TV

If you're someone who still has good ol' fashioned cable—or something similar like Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV—then you should know that reruns of The Office are on all the time. (Hulu + Live TV is $69.99/month, while YouTube TV pricing is $72.99/month.) Comedy Central is constantly replaying the show, so you can set your DVR to record the series and get a consistent rotation of episodes. You won't be able to put on your fave comfort episode after a long day, but not knowing what episode you're going to get is half the fun!

Buy DVDs

Okay, this one is a little old-school, but if you have a device that can play DVDs—a laptop, an Xbox, or even an actual DVD player (gasp!)—then purchasing the entire series of The Office is one way to know you'll never go without it.

Think this is an even more unappealing suggestion than watching it on cable? Fine. Stick with Peacock or buying the seasons somewhere else. But no matter what you choose, you should have plenty of options to keep cringing at "Scott's Tots" for years to come.
